“Perspective”

Today I want to talk about

“perspective”

It’s about choosing how you see your life.

Not talking about glass half full or half empty. But what is the general theme of your life? I have learned that the more tendency you have to view your life negatively, the more easily your mind tends to slip that way in all aspects of your life (work, relationship, self love).

Just a simple awareness of how you see your life is enough to provide the potential for sustainable change ( assuming you want to change how you view your life).

What’s also fascinating is how your perspective can change day to day. One day a commute slowed by traffic may feel unbearable, when other days you can think of catching up on a podcast or listen to a music you like. That extra time in the car by yourself feels like a little retreat.

How is it possible? It is the same situation, you are the same person. How can it make you mad one day and thankful another day?

What’s powerful about this realization is this: Thankfully, our emotions are not entirely dictated by what is happening outside of our body (traffic) but yet driven from how we view it from inside (our state of mind)

The simple awareness that our emotions can change, that we can choose to have a better perspective by choosing a better emotion that serves us is —-life changing. I have often mentioned how we don’t have much control over what happens outside. That simple truth should be enough to help us realize that what makes us happy is intrinsic, so that, we can choose a different perspective of the life we are living this very moment.

Meditation and mindfulness allow us to look at our lives not only objectively, but also intentionally, positively, and love what is at hand now.

Because this is truly all we have. Remember when you were younger and thinner and even then you felt self conscious about wearing a revealing bathing suite or a dress? What if what you are right now is the best version of you already?

Can you love what looks back at you in the mirror?

I want you to try to love that person.
